Project Title: Correlation of CT enteroclysis with surgical pathology in patients with Crohn’s disease
Period of Award: April 1, 2006 – March 31, 2007
Optimal management of Crohn's disease poses major challenges to clinicians. Empiric therapy is often used to decide the need for surgery in patients with obstructive symptoms. A recently developed technique called CT enteroclysis has shown early promising results in the investigation of the small bowel. This study plans to examine the accuracy of CT enteroclysis in Crohn's disease patients who had surgery for this condition at Indiana University and develop a radiology-based diagnostic strategy for differentiating inflammation from fibrosis in the intestine.
